The voice might above all be a useful comunication channel, but it is always also a barometer of emotion. No matter how urgently the speaker [or singer] may try and conceal their soul, the voice is never only semantics, but always prosody too:
a flattering warmth, a silvery pointedness, a dark safeness or a rude betrayal.
Because the voice meets the ear in the for of the physical impact of sound, it always stirs and touches, entering the body directly, just as it explodes from the body as an echo of its vibration.

BIOGRAFIE:

Baritone Serafin Heusser, from Zurich, studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Arts (HSLU) under Prof. Peter Brechbühler and at the Zurich University of Applied Arts (ZHdK) under Prof. Scot Weir. He graduated from both universities with distinction. Further, he participated in masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Barthold Kuijken and Ton Koopman.
Besides being in demand as a soloist in masses, conatatas and oratorios, he collaborates regularly with vocal ensembles such as the Schweizer Vokalconsort and the Larynx Vokalensemble, as well as with his the collaborative pianist Edward Rushton. Together with Pascal Hüppi, Heusser and Rushton also form the artistic collective sonolog, which is concerned with a transdisplinary approch to Art Song, and which debuted in 2024/25 with a tour of its first production, halt das mal aus so.
The other part of his vocation lies in his teaching activities as singing teacher at the Pädagogischen Maturitätsschule Kreuzlingen and as lecturer for Fachdidaktik at the ZHdK.
Serafin Heusser is prize winner of the Edwin Fischer-Gedenkpreises, the Migros-Kulturprozent Stipendiat and the Wagner Stipendiat.
