BIOGRAFIE: Kathrin Hottiger is a Swiss soprano. Engagements have taken her to Germany, Austria, Slovenia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Palestine and the US. She sang the role of Marie (Die verkaufte Braut) at the Gartenoper Langenthal, Zelmira (Armida, Haydn) at the Bregenz Festival, Eurydice (Orphée et Eurydice) at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and at the Komi Opera (RUS), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Adele (Die Fledermaus) at the Neues Theater in Dornach, Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice), Venus (Venus and Adonis) and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) at the Lucerne Theatre and Amour/Œnone (Hippolyte et Aricie) and Fortuna/Damigella (L’incoronazione di Poppea) at Waldegg Castle. The CD created in connection with this production was released by Rondeau Production Leipzig. Concert engagements have taken her to festivals such as Radovljica Slovenia, Oude Muziek Utrecht and Wratislavia Cantans in Wroclaw.Kathrin Hottiger has worked with the Gewandhausorchester and the Thomanerchor under the direction of Andreas Reize, argovia philharmonic under the direction of Rune Bergmann and Jan Willem de Vriend, the Sinfonieorchester Biel Solothurn, Camerata Bern, Café Zimmermann and the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne. She performs with Arlequin Philosophe, an ensemble under the direction of Pedro Memelsdorff, which specialises in the repertoire of the French-Caribbean late Baroque (current programme: Kourou – towards Paradise). She has a particular passion for Lied, especially French and Scandinavian literature. Kathrin has performed at festivals and concert series such as Liedrezital Zurich, Les Musicales de Redon, LiedBasel (Academy), Stimmen zu Gast Liestal and the Rhone Festival. Her first CD Mon amie la lune, a collaboration with her long-time duo partner Edward Rushton, was released in 2023 under the Prospero label. She studied with Liliane Zürcher in Lucerne, Switzerland. Since graduating, she has been working with Malin Hartelius. Masterclasses with Angelika Kirchschlager, Malcolm Martineau, Bernarda Fink, Edith Mathis, Ton Koopman and others complement her education. Kathrin Hottiger is a two-time winner of the scholarship from Migros Kulturprozent. She won third prize at the Pietro Antonio Cestiinternational competition for baroque opera in Innsbruck, Austria, and was a semi-finalist at the Neue Stimmen competition. |
