Wha do I love Lied so much? It has to do with my roots: in my family we always used to sing a lot – besides children's songs and lullabies, mostly folk songs. That was the basis and foundation for my feeling emotionally at home in Art Song. With my studies came more foundations: I learnt to love playing the piano, its sound, its expressive possibilities, and felt at home there too. And at school I also learnt to love literature, and its sound and expressive possibilites too. During my studies I became more and more and better acquainted with Art Song in all its variety, and found in it a home.

Favourite song: Schubert: "An den Mond" D 259

BIOGRAFIE:

Fabienne Romer loves classical music and folk music equally; she lives, treasures and combines both musical worlds with expertise, virtuosity, and passion. As a freelance musician she can be heard regularly on the most diverse stages of Switzerland on the piano, the organ and with her voice. She is also repeatedly drawn back to Sweden, for concerts and to fulfil her longing for that country. She is the mother of two children and lives with her family in Ernetschwil, in the canton of St Gallen.

She studier piano at the Zurich University of Applied Arts (ZHdK) under Prof. Homero Francesch. After graduating with distinction she furthered her studies in Paris, Stockholm and Munich, where she graduated in 2011 from Prof. Helmut Deutsch's Lied class.
One of the focal points of her work is as a song pianist. She has been working for many years with the soprano Sybille Diethelm. Their promotion of Art song composed in Swiss German is worth special mention. In 2021 their CD Plangliedli, Lanzigliedli, Herbtliedli, Heiwehliedli, with settings of poetry by Meinrad Lienert, appeared on the Prospero label.
